כְּשֶׁמְּקַנְּאִין קִנְאַת ה' צְבָקוֹת, נֶחֱשָׁב כְּמוֹ צְדָקָה.
Zeal for Hashem Is Charity
When a person is zealous for the honour of Hashem Tzevakos, it is counted like charity. Rebbe Nachman brings this from Tosafos in Bava Basra, on the Sages' reading of 'charity exalts a nation': Tosafos write that Nevuzaradan did an act of charity at that moment, because he was zealous for the Holy One.

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah sixty five: zeal for Hashem Is Charity.
When someone is zealous for Hashem Tzevakos, Rebbe Nachman says, it is counted like charity.
He brings it from Tosafos in Bava Basra, on the verse 'charity exalts a nation'.
Tosafos write that even Nevuzaradan did charity at that moment, because he was zealous for the Holy One.
Our own reflection: caring for Hashem's honour is a kind of giving.
Explainer
Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah sixty five. A short teaching about zeal for Hashem.
Rebbe Nachman teaches: when a person is zealous with zeal for Hashem Tzevakos, it is counted like charity.
The source is Tosafos in the chapter HaShutfin, on the Sages' teaching about the verse in Mishlei, 'charity exalts a nation, and the kindness of the peoples is a sin'.
The Gemara brings a proof from Nevuzaradan. And Tosafos explain that Nevuzaradan did charity then, because he was zealous for the Holy One, blessed be He.
So zeal for Hashem Tzevakos is like charity.
Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. Caring that Hashem's honour is not trampled is itself a kind of giving. Rebbe Nachman tells us it is counted as charity.

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah sixty five. A short shiur in one part: zeal for Hashem Is Charity.
Gold is Rebbe Nachman's own words, from Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah sixty five. Grey is a verse or teaching he quotes. Green is our own explanation. The Hebrew is the public-domain text from Sefaria; the English is our own paraphrase.
When one is zealous with zeal for Hashem Tzevakos, it is counted like charity.
As Tosafos wrote in the chapter HaShutfin, on what our Sages, of blessed memory, said:
'Charity exalts a nation': this is Israel. 'And the kindness of the peoples is a sin': these are the nations, for every kindness they do, and so on. And they brought a proof from Nevuzaradan; see there.
And Tosafos wrote there: Nevuzaradan did charity then, for he was zealous for the Holy One, blessed be He. It follows that zeal for Hashem Tzevakos is like charity.
Our explanation. Charity gives to one who lacks. Zeal for Hashem stands up for His honour where it is lacking in the world. So Tosafos can call that zeal an act of charity.
Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. Caring that Hashem's honour is not trampled is itself a kind of giving. Rebbe Nachman tells us it is counted as charity.
