1-minute recap

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah fifty five: the profit of this world.

What you can gain in this world is beyond measure, with no expenses of your own.

Our own reflection: the opportunities are already in front of you; open your hand.

Explainer

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah fifty five. A single line about the greatest business opportunity there is.

The profit a person can make in this world, Rebbe Nachman says, is beyond measure. And it needs no outlay of his own, what they called in Yiddish ois-lag, expenses.

Only from what the Creator has already prepared before him, he can open his hand and gain very, very much. No eye has seen it.

Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. You don't need to bring anything of your own. Hashem has set the opportunities in front of you; open your hand and take them.

— Part 1: The Profit of This World —

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah fifty five. A very short shiur: the profit of this world.

Gold is Rebbe Nachman's own words, from Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah fifty five. Grey is a verse or teaching he quotes. Green is our own explanation. The Hebrew is the public-domain text from Sefaria; the English is our own paraphrase.

The profit of this world cannot be measured: what a person can earn in this world. It needs no outlay of his own, what they call ois-lag, expenses; only from what the Creator has prepared before him, he can open his hand and earn very, very much. 'No eye has seen', and so on.

Our explanation. Every mitzvah, every word of Torah and prayer, is profit. The capital is not ours: Hashem has already prepared it in front of us. We only need to open our hand, and no eye has seen how much it is worth.

Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. You don't need to bring anything of your own. Hashem has set the opportunities in front of you; open your hand and take them.
