1-minute recap

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah one hundred and six: Torah thoughts at every moment.

Rebbe Nachman taught that even in the most private moment of married life, it is fitting to keep one's mind on words of Torah, and it is very good to get used to it.

Our own reflection: no part of life is too far from Torah.

Explainer

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah one hundred and six. A single line about holiness in married life.

Rebbe Nachman says it is fitting to think about words of Torah at the time of marital union. He reassures that this does not prevent having children, even though one's mind is then attached to thoughts of Torah.

And he adds that it is very good to accustom oneself to this. It is a matter of training, step by step.

Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. Holiness is not kept for the shul and the beis midrash. A Jewish home, in its most private moments too, can be filled with Torah.

— Part 1: Torah Thoughts in Married Life —

Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah one hundred and six. A very short shiur: words of Torah in every part of life.

Gold is Rebbe Nachman's own words, from Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah one hundred and six. Grey is a verse or teaching he quotes. Green is our own explanation. The Hebrew is the public-domain text from Sefaria; the English is our own paraphrase.

Rebbe Nachman teaches, briefly: It is fitting to think about words of Torah at the time of marital union, and even so he can have children, even though his thoughts are then attached to Torah. And it is very good to accustom oneself to this.

Our explanation. Rebbe Nachman does not treat married life as separate from holiness. Even its most private moments can be accompanied by thoughts of Torah, and he reassures that this takes nothing away from the blessing of children. It comes with practice.

Some reflections of our own, not a quotation. No part of life is too far from Torah. Holiness grows with habit, so begin with small steps.

This has been Likutey Moharan Tinyana, Torah one hundred and six.
