### Part 1 — From the Arrows of Prayer to Shabbos

- Scene 3 · LM II:83 §1, on Tehillim 89 and Shemos 17:12 · paragraph §1.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): Through guarding the covenant, which is a bow, a person can shoot the arrows, which are prayer: the eighteen blessings of prayer, which are three vavs, like arrows. Their place is in the covenant, as it says, 'My covenant shall be faithful to him'. And faith is prayer, as it says, 'his hands were faith'.
- Scene 5 · LM II:83 §1, on Tehillim 132:17 and Chavakuk 3:4 · paragraph §1.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): And then the horn of Mashiach begins to sprout, as it says, 'I will make a horn sprout for David', and 'rays from His hand are His'. His hand is prayer. There are three prayers, because Mashiach is included in the Avos. Mashiach is speech, with which one prays, as in 'He gives speech to the mute', and it comes from fire, water and wind.
- Scene 7 · LM II:83 §2, on Bava Basra 16b and Bereishis 24:1 · paragraph §2.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And then he becomes a free man; that is, he comes to the holiness of Shabbos, when work is forbidden. For Shabbos is shin and bas. The shin is three colours: fire, wind and water. Bas is prayer, the blessings, as the Sages say: he had a daughter, and Bakol was her name, which is blessing, as it says, 'and Hashem blessed Avraham with everything'.
- Scene 9 · LM II:83 §3, on Koheles 7:23 · paragraph §3.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): The holiness of Shabbos is the goal of knowing, and the goal of knowing is that we do not know. That is why Shabbos is called the goal of heaven and earth. And this goal is as it says, 'I said, I will become wise, but it is far from me'. That is the essence of wisdom: to understand that wisdom is far from him.
- Scene 11 · LM II:83 §4, on Tehillim 104:24, Berachos 6b and Shemos 16:29 · paragraph §4.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): This goal is the essence of place, the Place of the world. For this goal surrounds the whole world, which was created with wisdom, as it says, 'You made them all with wisdom'. This is the teaching: one who sets a fixed place for his prayer. For that is the essence of place, as in 'let no one leave his place on the seventh day'.
- Scene 12 · LM II:83 §5, on Shemos 3:5, 4:7 and Bereishis 2:23 · paragraph §5.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And then he sheds his leprous body, which comes from the snake's skin, and puts on Shabbos clothes, a holy body from Gan Eden. For the place makes it happen, as it says, 'Remove your shoes, for the place'. Because of this holy body it is called Shabbos, as in 'and behold, it returned like his flesh': he was healed of his leprosy and clothed in a holy body from Gan Eden, called flesh, as in 'flesh of my flesh'.
- Scene 14 · LM II:83 §6, on Mishlei 10:22, Yechezkel 36:26 and Mishlei 18:22 · paragraph §6.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And then his mazal rises, which is flesh of his flesh, and he merits wealth, as it says, 'the blessing of Hashem makes rich'. And his good inclination grows strong, the heart of flesh, for the good inclination is as it says, 'one who has found a wife has found good'.
- Scene 15 · LM II:83 §6, on Shemos 19:19 and Berachos 54a · paragraph §6.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): This is 'the sound of the shofar grew stronger and stronger': the sound of the shofar comes from that beautiful body. That sound is the prayer we spoke of. Growing stronger and stronger is money. His mazal and his good inclination grow strong, and the sadness and the scoffing that come from black bile are cancelled.
- Scene 16 · LM II:83 §6, on Koheles 7:6, Berachos 61a and Koheles 10:2 · paragraph §6.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): For sadness comes from pressure and poverty, and scoffing is 'the laughter of the fool', as in 'the spleen laughs'. Both are cancelled by the mazal of wealth and by the good inclination, which is 'a wise man's heart is at his right'.

### Part 2 — The Light of the Eyes and the Love That Covers

- Scene 2 · LM II:83 §7, on Tehillim 150:6 · paragraph §7.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And with this right hand he raises those who have fallen into bad loves and bad fears; he lifts them up to holy loves and holy fears.
- Scene 3 · LM II:83 §7, on Tehillim 119:18 · paragraph §7.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): For his right hand removes the darkness from their eyes, and then their eyes see wonders, as in 'open my eyes, that I may see wonders'.
- Scene 4 · LM II:83 §7, on Michah 7:15, Malachi 2:6 and Bereishis 1:14 · paragraph §7.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): These wonders are Pesach, which is the right side, as in 'as in the days when you left Egypt, I will show him wonders'. And Pesach is peh sach, a mouth that speaks, as in 'a Torah of truth was in his mouth'. It is counted as if he created the world, for there it is written, 'let there be lights', and the darkness that covered the deep passed away.
- Scene 6 · LM II:83 §8, on Melachim I 9:3 · paragraph §8.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): The light of the eyes also lifts up all the requests and pleas that people pray toward the Beis HaMikdash. For all requests rise up there, and from there the light of the eyes comes out, as in 'My eyes and My heart shall be there'.
- Scene 7 · LM II:83 §8, on Yeshayahu 63:4 and Bereishis 1:5 · paragraph §8.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): And the light of the eyes awakens the redemption, which depends on the heart, as in 'for a day of vengeance is in My heart', because His eyes and heart are there. This is 'He called the light day': the light of the eyes awakens the day of vengeance in the heart, to cancel the leaven and chametz, the evil inclination of a person's heart that remains from his youth.
- Scene 8 · LM II:83 §8, on Hoshea 10:2 and Pesachim 2a · paragraph §8.3
  - EN (our paraphrase): The leaven and chametz in a person's heart are what push him to think ill of the Torah scholars of the generation, saying this one is fine and that one is not, as in 'their heart is divided'. Libam, their heart, hints at the seventy-two tzaddikim of the generation. And this is the light of the fourteenth: the light of the eyes, which have twice seven layers, and with them we search for the chametz.
- Scene 10 · LM II:83 §9, on Shir HaShirim 8:7 · paragraph §9.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And then the heart can burn in Torah study with flames of love, and many waters, which are outside loves and fears, cannot put out this burning, as in 'many waters cannot put out the love'. And the Shechinah covers with her wings the blood of Israel, in this love, so that the evil seed, which is like the waters of the Flood, should not rule over them.
- Scene 11 · LM II:83 §9, on Berachos 12b and Mishlei 10:12 · paragraph §9.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): This is: one who commits a sin and is ashamed of it is forgiven, for 'love covers all transgressions'. For through the shame his blood is spilled, and then the Shechinah covers his blood with love, like the mitzvah of covering the blood. And through this covering, all his transgressions are covered by themselves.
- Scene 13 · LM II:83 §10 · paragraph §10.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): When the Holy One, blessed be He, wishes to taste, as it were, the positive mitzvos of a Jew who is a tzaddik, they are like a limb from a living creature, which may not be eaten and needs shechitah to make it permitted.
- Scene 14 · LM II:83 §10, on Bereishis 27:4 and Tikkunei Zohar 21 · paragraph §10.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): So shame must come upon him, which is spilling blood, like shechitah, which makes the limb from the living fit. Then Hashem can taste his positive mitzvos, whether one or many. For the mitzvos are called tasty dishes, as it says, 'make me tasty dishes, such as I love': from the positive commandments, as the Tikkunei Zohar brings.
- Scene 15 · LM II:83 §10 · paragraph §10.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): And when his blood is spilled through shame, he must take care that the known outside forces, who want to draw from this spilled blood, should not draw from it. So a covering is needed: the Shechinah covers the blood of Israel, spilled in this love, as in 'such as I love'. And this is covering the blood.
- Scene 16 · LM II:83 §11 · paragraph §11.1
  - EN (our paraphrase): In the matter of the spilled blood of Israel there are many lofty and hidden things, whether blood spilled through shame or actual spilled blood. For there are many fallen souls that have no way to rise except through the spilled blood of a great Jew, and sometimes they have no way to rise except through actual spilled blood.
- Scene 17 · LM II:83 §11, on Yoma 86b and Tikkunei Zohar 21 · paragraph §11.2
  - EN (our paraphrase): This is 'deliberate sins become like merits'. For through the shame and the spilled blood, the Shechinah covers their blood with that love, as in 'love covers all transgressions'. Then the deliberate sins turn into merits, and the fallen souls, which are like transgressions, are lifted up; they rise and are turned into merits through the covering of the blood with love.
